A Midsummer Night's Dream (As You Like It)

A beautiful, melancholic at times with dark undertones, love story directed by the exciting, talented Russian Theate Director/ Painter/ Set Designer/ Graphic Artist Dmitry Krymov.

I was lucky enough to be involved in this production by Chekhov International Theatre Festival, School of Dramatic Art Theatre and Dmitry Krymov Laboratory as a supernumerary/ actor when it toured Perth for the Perth International Arts Festival at His Majesty's Theatre in February 2014.

For seven days I listened to the sweet, angelic and sometimes haunting vocals of Anna Sinyakina who was the voice of Thisbe, perfectly complemented by Alexey Kokhanov's incredibly broad beautiful vocal range, who voiced Pyramus.

I was in awe of the the stripped back set with my favourite visual scene being the lovers' separation with deep blue lighting, a rising bright moon and a zig zag of tube lighting creating a lit path from the light of the moon leading to Thisbe's blood stained veil.

Anna's costume was mesmerisingly whimsical with deep blue velvet toque, long draped low slung back black velvet dress, white cotton gloves,brown boots.

Another standout was Vadim Dubrovin's light, dance-like movements as he floated across the stage puppeteering Pyramus' hand movements.
